Fox came for supper

This fellow came by to share the dry dog food that I put out for resident raccoons. The raccoons were not happy. They growled and swatted him on the nose. The fox was intimidated. Perhaps he has encountered raccoons before. I put a few pellets of food on the concrete pathway. This shot was taken through double-pane glass. I wish there had been more separation between him and the background. I am still hoping to get a good shot with his mate and their young kit. Now the raccoons have gotten accustomed to his presence and sometimes they allow him to eat from the big pan.

A most handsom visitor

Thanks, Carolina. This fellow comes as the sun is going down and he is very shy. ...jean

The raccoons have little ones in their dens and they do not like company at the food pan. The fox is a wily one and usually finds a way to get a share. I have seen him back off and get a running start to crash the "coon" crowd and push them out of the way. Thanks for looking, Dee.

Thanks, Kay, I think our tastes must be similar. I live in the woods on the shore of Lake Seminole. Most of my visitors have four legs. ...jean

I wish we still lived in the woods. Right now I have to go to them, which cuts way down on my opportunities. We do get a few visitors, though.
