If you want to use your imagination you should look at commerical or product photography.

See if you don't find these stimulating.

I don't think you can teach that kind of creativity. Dang it.

Well actually they teach the basics. I was a commercial/Industrial photographer after school. I had to keep reading and studying other photographers work so as to develop my creativity. Granted most of the work was mundane but if you don't learn new ideas it is hard to come up with ideas that out do the competition. Most times I worked with an art director who provided a story board or sketch of the product idea and sometimes I would throw my ideas in. Before computers they had an annual publication of commerial/product/fashion photographers and we studied that like crazy for new ideas. Not to copy the idea but maybe to guide our creativity. I have spent two weeks putting image after image after image on a sheet of 4x5 and 8x10 Ectachrome for a client. Developing the sets and lighting. Ensuring the color is exactly to specifications. Creativity has to be developed. Look at advertisements, see where the light comes from, the richer colors are usually produced by quartz lights through diffusers. Look at shadows, look at the textures. It can be taught but most of it you develop through your passion.

Cool. I admire people with true passion; be it graphic design, music, sports, etc. After all my years in music, the only instrument I can play is the radio. ;)

Perhaps . . . but some don't know it until we get that push.

There are tons of sites like these; some good some, eh. I suggest (as already has been in another post) for great ideas and reading, Digital Photography School:
http://www.digital-photography-school.com . . . this site is hugely organized and informative.

The one the poster asked about is something that I subscribe to as well, but find that I've already seen most of this info somewhere else (most likely DPS).
