I like #1 but either way I would remove the twig.

My pic would be an image cropped between what you have shown. On the 2nd image take just a bit off the top and left edge using the wood there as framing but not showing the "back" edges of the frame.

As for the twig, it would be nice if it wasn't there but it's reality -- as long as it's not intrusive I don't worry about little things.

Had a few minutes to play so here is another try.

I like both. I have a lot of squirrel pictures as well as a number of bird and deer photos from when I go to see my mom. She lives on the city / county border on the back side of a large hill / mountain and has a ton of wildlife right out the back door. I just love it when I go visit as it gives me a ton of new photo opportunities.

Great shot! I liked the twig in it, but that's just person preference. Is that squirrel missing a front foot? It sure looks like it to me. A raccoon with a bad hind foot visits our feeders.

I would crop in alittle from right to eliminate some of the dead space. Opinion only

LOL! Was wondering if anyone would notice that! Was tired last night and accidently elimated it.That is why you always save the original.

I also like the twig.

Finial copy I think. Twig back, cropped in a little from left, top and right. Right front paw is back and black strap ir removed. I like that "stamp" tool, really comes in handy at times.

Any more thoughts?

Squirrels are one of my favorite things to photo at the feeders. You never know what they are going to do. Here are a couple more to C&C. Had an apple out for the mocking birds and it disappeared. Wonder where it went?

Hi Jim ... I think this one is great. Normally I would like the first one that you posted the best because there is more of the "subject" in the image, but in this case the wood really has a lot of "character" so it adds some interest as well. at this point, a lot of how yo crop would depend on if you plan to print and frame in 5x7, 8x10, etc. Great shot, by the way!

If I were to print it would probably be an 8X10 but everyone has their own idea as to a print size. When I resize, if I resize, it normally is to somewhere around a 12.?X17.? This gives me a litttle bit of room to play with. I have found most print programs resize to what you tell it to but often distort the photo to get that size. That is why I resize just before printing so I get what I want, not whaat the program wants to give me. A print of this would look like this.

AND THANKS EVERYONE FOR THE COMPLIMENTS! GREATLY APPRECIATED!
