SAT of 1206 in the 90's correlates roughly to 1280 at today's recording levels. This puts Bush at an estimated 125 IQ, which is the top 5%, which would technically qualify him, based on SAT scores alone (from the 90's) for membership in the "International High IQ Society" who accept SAT scores that have an equivalency of a standard IQ of 124.

http://www.highiqsociety.org/join.php

It would also qualify him for the "High Five Society" another Hi-IQ group that was popular in the 90's and may still be around.

I'm not a Republican and did not vote for George W Bush but I always liked the guy, despite some of the decisions and directions he took in politics. I've always felt that he was a lot more intelligent than most people would give him credit for.

When I joined Mensa back in the early 90's I had to take 2 proctored IQ tests (one for qualification and one as part of their own IQ studies group) and scored and IQ
I always though George W Bush (or any former president) of 151 and 147 respectively on both (qualification for Mensa is ~ IQ=132). would be a fascinationg person to sit and talk to.

SAT of 1300 and IQ of 145, and never joined Mensa because, as LarryPayne shows, debate and arguing is useless. I spend my time using my intellect to solve problems in my real world. I also didn't join when I became eligible because it was a lousy place to try to meet women.

Being President involves a lot more than intelligence, for example, not mouthing off to Saudi Arabia about their lack of human rights and causing a major oil shortage.

Jack,
George W's estimated iq was below 95. If you use that as a measure he may be smarter than you, but certainly not me and certainly not smarter than 50% of the population.
If however you want to take the opinion of Hennessy as fact and not just opinion, you can conclude whatever you want, as long as you understand that a conclusion based on false assumptions will be false.

I assure you Frank that GW was a hell of a lot smarter than you, just how did you arrive at the estimation of GW's IQ anyway...

Tell you what Frank, here is a free IQ test, why don't you take it and save a screen shot of the results, in looking for an average IQ range I came across this test.... I will show you mine if you have the nalgas to show us yours Mr. Smarty Pants.

Mensa and most other Hi-IQ societies used to accept SAT and ACT scores but, for the most part, discontinued accepting these scores some time ago. I don't know the reason but the most likely was because students were now able to raise their scores by attending prep courses, they ceased to measure I.Q. scores and simply measured the level of the (aided) preparation.

I can accept that for a motivated student SAT scores may be a good indicator, but certainly there are plenty of brilliant people who could not fit into the school setting and would not perform well in certain aspects of the SAT.... So, although it can be a good indicator of high IQ poor scores do not necessarily indicate low IQ, at least in my opinion because much of what the SAT measures is learned, especially on the verbal side of the test.

Some folks are too smart to google that. Even Dubya admits he's not the brightest flower on the cart.

Smarts are not the measure of a good, bad,or indifferent president. Wilson is reputed to be a smart man. That didn't prevent him from being a miserable man. He was a virulent anti-semite, he segregated the armed forces, he was a eugenicist and adherent of Margret Sanger. Sanger was a promoter of contraception not so that women would have control of their own bodies, bot so that the lower races would not add theit off spring to the population. These "undesireables were the blacks, jews, and those of lower inyelligence. Wilson thought that these lower races should be forceably strerilized so as not to contaminate the USA. These facts are mostly hidden from the history of Wilson woh is often listed as one of the top ten presidents. This history is available if you look for honest histories.. His policies led to a depression in 1919. This is hlso a fact that is not mentioned when Wilson is discussed. Don.t believe me. Do your own research. Please excuse my poor spelling

No worries, I usually forgive poor spelling, as I am often guilty of it. I am just curious why you quote replied my post and started talking about Wilson. I assume you mean Woodrow. My comment about Dubya referred to Pres. George W. Bush. Some Texans call him Dubya with a sense of affectionate respect, some call him Dubya with a less than respectful intent. Don't think anyone has referred to Woodrow as Dubya ...

Much of the things I mentioned about W. Wilson can be found in a book by E.Black Read it. Wilson was truly a terrible man.

OK ??? WTF does it have to do with what anyone else has said on this thread? I am not averse to shifting the topic a bit, but W. Wilson is completely from the out there field on this thread...

How many of you read the article? I found it very interesting. George is no dummy. After all, he did marry Laura, who I think may be the classiest of all the first ladies.

He definitely "married up!" Whether he did by luck or design, she is classy. She likely has the higher IQ in the couple as well, so anonymous sources say!

Considering her promotion of literacy, and everything I've heard her say, she is a very intelligent person. That's not knocking George, either.

Yes, you should be.... But where is Frank, he is the one who claims that he is smarter than Bush and that Bush's IQ is only 90...

I bet that Frank can't break 100 on that test without cheating.

As Bush might say, Frank is all hat and no cattle.
