I just tried to import/download pictures from my D3100 to Lightroom and LR rejected the raw nef or nef raw files/images ?
This is the first time I shot in raw and tried Tim import....any ideas.?
Thanks

Are you using the "Import as DNG" option at the top of the Import screen? When you say 'rejected', what is the message saying?

I've not experienced this, but I've always used the option to convert to DNG. I do have the import process save copies of the .NEF file on a backup drive, however.

Sounds like you need the upgrade for the D3100. Go here: http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/search/index.cfm?term=D3100&loc=en_us&siteSection=downloads

You should be able to copy, move, or DNG convert your files on import without rejection, unless your files or not supported by LR. Upgrade has been mentioned, go there first. If that does not work, copy you files from your card to a folder you create on your desktop, then import (into LR) from the file on your desktop.

Open lightroom, click on help, select check for upgrades and install the upgrades.

There is a component of lightroom called adobe camera raw that handles the processing of camera raw files. Every camera manufacturer has a proprietary raw format and newer cameras sometimes make changes to that format and so camera raw needs to update.

Hi wingincamera: I just joined the lightroom forum. Thanks for the lead, I've had the program about 6 months and still struggle with it, even after watching all the tutorials on a Adobe T.V. and youtube. I just hope it is as much help in that area that UHH has been in photography tips as well as Post Processing and equipment information. What I have learned here is been a super big help.... Thanks to all the great people here.

Hi travlnman46, another Washingtonian.
I have learned quite a bit from videos and the Lightroom forums. Also, if you have any questions that you can't find answers to, the experts there are eager to help.

Hi wingincamera: I appreciate the encouragement and the information on the lightroom3 forum. I expect I will learn a lot from the the folks there. Just where in WA do you live? I'm in Yakima on the east side of the state.
