Alaska: young eagles in flight.
Immature Bald eagles have a big wingspan.
The second picture really shows the big wingspan. Great pictures.

Amateur question to the master.
Is it really a longer wingspan compared to the adults or a slightly smaller body fooling the eye?

Wait. Did I just answer my own question? The wingspan doesn't get smaller, does it? So they grow into it?

When Bald eagles reach maturity (4-5years) their muscles and tendons shorten up,the result is a shorter wingspan.

They were after fishes in a creek. I was located on a hump overlooking the rapids shooting down toward the opposite shore. Thanks, Ivan.
That's a perspective we don't get to see very often. The top of birds in flight. Thank you for sharing them. Great as usual.
Very nice shots, and to be above the eagle is awesome!
