You did a wonderful job of capturing the water drop. I think it didn't score higher was because your competition had a little more creativity going with the refractions and the composition.
Wow! I truly don't know what could be better about it. Great job of stopping that drop dead in the air. Drop well separated from the background, the colors are golden and amazing and unique, and your lighting is fabulous ... I'm going to call that little white spec on the drop a catchlight .. :-D

If you examine the images which got higher ratings than yours you will notice two basic differences between your photo and them. First is the lighting. This type of photography requires very controlled lighting, preferably from a large soft source which does not create unwanted reflections. Your water drop has about a dozen bright reflections which contribute nothing to the image. Secondly is composition. Note most of the best images have quite simple backgrounds that are either a deliberate part of the story or are flat and not distracting. The portion of your image below the drop contains multiple elements which are confusing and distracting.
