That's one of the most common sense statements ever posted on this thread. Thank you bodacious!

Served in military, no. Seen combat? I worked as a surgical resident in Metropolitan Hospital in NYC. ("Spanish Harlem") I guess we didn't as many gunshot and shrapnel wounds there as they do in Kandahar, but let's just say we were very familiar with combat casualties. Every night was a parade of gunshot and other wounds. Violence in the ER was not uncommon either. Have been punched, kicked etc. Seen more combat than the average bear.

You go girl, damn glade for YOUR service and your families. Thank you, you are greatly appreciated by the majority here I am sure.

Well, I cannot answer for her, but would really like to know exactly what it matters if she has or has not.... We have often heard on these forums that question posted about a Conservative... BUT no one seems to care that our President has not served or seen combat..... and ????????

Mike

We do seem to get reply's from someone asking about anothers time of service but I seldom see where they show or discus the branch of service or time in service that they served. Sometimes I guess I can be too curious. If someone has not been in OUR armed services I really do not understand what concern it is of theirs who has or has not served our country. Just a confused ol country boy I am.

I do agree with your statement but I would like to see a flat tax of some kind so as to eliminate the IRS altogether. Then we can start to downsize our government by eliminating all the duplicate organizations and stopping the financing of independent private groups, organizations and corporations by tax payers. Just a start for the conversion of the US back to what she used to be when we were a free nation.

Understandable. Debate is dangerous to the collective, which depends on conformity. However our system is built on debate. I am always amused by the lament of the liberals that we can't all work together. Our system is a system of checks and balances. Have you ever seen a balance? How can you have balance if everything is on the same side? Everybody on the same side is called TYRANNY.

That's their idea of balance.

Let me ask you a question. Have you served in the military and seen combat? :)

Have you?
What's the point of your question?

I have. 15 months in South Vietnam, Republic of. 1st Marines, 1st Recon Btn.

And it all means exactly squat!

What does it matter whether or not she's been in the military?

Just as it doesn't really matter if you've ever served in any military, ours or anybody else's.

I would be happy to show my DD papers to anyone, especially a conscientious objector or non serving liberal, they can peruse that and my military history right under my Betsy Ross flag hanging in the office. Maybe we could have a friendly conversation about patriotism and honor to country. US Navy 1962 to 1978. Nam special operations forces, what ever the hell that was, hate and discontent control is what we called it, USS Ranger and some rusty tugs then 2 tears I mean years as Shore Patrol while waiting to get the hell out. If I was younger and dumber I would like to do most of it again. I think I had a good time in Nam, cant remember some of it as the smoke there was really good, I think.

Did Putin's troops posing as Ukranian protesters shoot down a commercial jetliner? It came down from 30,000 feet - too high for shoulder fired rockets. They shot down a Ukranian cargo plane recently, as well as a Ukranian fighter. But Mr OB still thinks we need to cut our military.

I am one who believes that cutting back on our military will make it a much more efficient force, given our new weapons technology. We just can't continue to spend ourselves into a downward spiral. Look at all we spent with our military might in Vietnam, and we lost that war. Look at Iraq and Afghanistan. Just what have we won in those two countries? Very costly nonsense.

We won not a lot, at least for the long term, that's always a problem when you allow a politician with no military experience and not a lot of brain cells to run our military forces as we do now. Ya, lets cut back our military forces, makes for a much easier conversion to communism or some other type of tyrannical government takeover. Lots of thought must be given before eliminating Americas power in the world.

Agree, but being powerful does not mean having to spend ourselves into oblivion.

With intelligent representation and a huge downsizing of government we would not spend ourselves into oblivion. And still be capable of maintaining a secure and updated armed forces. Just a thought.

I don't think the faculties of our Universities are 95% self confessed Liberals. I have a hard time getting anyone of them to confess anything. I think you have a problem with people of can think and reason for themselves.

I don't think so. All the conservatives I know have varying opinions. One of the jibes of the liberals is that the Republlicans are all fighting among themselves. On the other hand, the Dems all come out in the morning with the identical set of talking points - so much so it sounds like a broken record. All you have to do is swtch rapidly among the lib channels and you hear the exact same words. If they are thinking for themselves, they must have a shared master brain broadcasting.

If you think 95% is hyperbole (and it probably is) then what do you think the accurate number is? Please enlighten us!
