Once photos are on the internet, normally they are there forever.
Nothing can really protect them. If you put on a copyright notice, it can be erased easily.
Protecting ? Do you mean on your computer hard drive ? To prevent erasure ?

Might explain a little more

What are you trying to protect them from? I post photos only in two places here on UHH and Facebook where I only share with my family and friends. You could put a watermark on your photos that you post that would help. Search copyright on this site lots of information.

One suggestion I have seen on some threads here makes sense to me - reduce the resolution of your uploaded pics so they will look good on the internet but will not have the pixel count for printing.

If someone wants your picture, they will get it. Just don't give away the farm. Scale it down to about 800x600 or something like that.

ditto on JHodge's suggestion.

Another suggestion for the posting rules:

"Try to use descriptive titles when creating new topics. Instead of something like "Please Help", write a title that briefly states the nature of your post. That way, people who know the answer or are interested in that particular topic would be more likely to click on it to read it and post replies."
Nothing against Oklahoma, I lived in OKC for a long time.
Worked for OU and a newspaper there, the Oklahoma Journal.

I'm with Ebaribeault; I only put photos on here and occassionally on facebook. Here I think they are pretty safe, but on facebook I always reduce the size and have a watermark in them. I am a little afraid that people will try to steal them on facebook, but I have all of my security stuff set so that only my friends can see my pics. I am more afraid that facebook will try to take them. I got a little paranoid when they came out with the clause in their stuff that they have rights to any photo posted on the site and they are allowed to use it however they want however long they want without permission or compensation to the person. So I post very few pics and I delete them after a couple of weeks.
