An interview with Nikocarol,
1) How long have you been into photography and what got you started?
I have been doing photography since I am a kid. I grew up with a family that photographed every event.
2) Do you have any formal training and what kind of photography do you do most?
No, I am self taught.
3) In your opinion, what makes a good picture stand out from the rest?
All the usual stuff like..Composition, focus, lighting, subject..all key ingredients to a good image.
4) What equipment did you use and was there any special setup?
Can you walk us through it? I personally use Nikon..when I decided to purchase a DSL I heard about the debate of Canon vs Nikon etc...for me they are both great cameras but it came down to how it felt in my hand and Nikon is my choice.
5) Do you post process your final images, and if so can you describe your workflow?
I download into Lightroom..I love that program. Then if future processing is needed then off to Photoshop CC.
6) Who or what has influenced your photography and what inspired you to take your winning shot?
This shot is of my grandson who caught his first fish..his face was my total focus. He was so excited that I have to say that is all I really paid attention to in this moment. I am thrilled that others appreciated his excitement to. Thank you!
7) Would you change anything if you could do it again, and if so what?
No way could this shot be redone..If so I would have shot this with him being the total focus maybe shooting this at F2.8 softening the surroundings.
8) What is the one thing you wish you knew when you started taking photos?
That I wanted to keep getting better. So I read a lot of books and studied.
9) What is your favorite photography accessory, other than your camera?
The Hoodman is my favorite. It allows me to see upclose to the LCD screen.
10) If you had to choose one lens which one would it be and why?
It is not the best of glass but for a walk around lens it is my choice..Nikon 18/200.
11) What lighting equipment, if any, do you take on a shoot?
Most of the time I shoot in natural light but if I have to I use the SB800 with a cord to shoot off camera.
12) If you couldn't do photography what else would you do?
Tour guide to show people the beauty I see in this world.
13) Do you have any funny or interesting stories about your experiences?
Each day I shoot I meet interesting people.
14) Is there somewhere we can see more of your work?
http://carolyndalessandro.artistwebsites.com15) Do you have any advice for the rest of us?
No, I don't give advice unless someone asks for it. Most people really don't want it.
I do however think it is so important to learn, discover and explore your world of photography. Improve your standards...study why someone else's work looks the way it does and how you can improve on yours. I believe it is not the camera, it is the photographer and if you know your camera you can make it do the best it is able to do. If that is not good enough then it is time to upgrade.
Thanks to everyone who voted for my "Pride" pic...so glad you liked it.
