I've been seeing a lot of adds on the internet about mirrorless camera's, does anyone here have an opinion on these new camera's. Which is better for a noob like me, still using my T2I and loving it by the way. Would a mirrorless be a good upgrade from what I am now using now ?

If you do not mind trying to frame and focus on a 3" LCD or through an electronic view finder the mirror-less is a good choice. I have been using SLR Cameras for 50 years and feel uncomfortable and out of sorts with the mirror-less. Have about 5 of them at this point and only use as backup or indoors on a tripod for product photos.

Many enjoy the lighter smaller Mirror-less, It is considerably lighter and easier to carry, and produces high quality images. On my last trip to China, I opted for my Olympus OM and cursed every time I tried to frame a shot, maybe I need my eyes checked.,

I have both the Olympus em5 and em1 and I don't think I will ever go back to an analog viewfinder. Tests have shown that the resolution is equal to that of a mirror and pentaprism and the issues with flicker and jitter have been resolved. Plus you can change brightness, contrast and color, you can preview how a shot will look through the viewfinder before you take it and you can zoom in up to 14x magnification. It spoils you!

Mirrorless cameras are the fastest growing sector in worldwide camera sales everywhere in the world except the usa... It has been proposed that the fact that Nikon and Canon haven't jumped on board had actually contributed to the decline in worldwide camera sales...

I wrote some general information about mirrorless here: http://www.uglyhedgehog.com/t-221887-1.html#3735207

It all comes down to the EVF.

Yes DSLRs will fade out and so will M-L at some point just as SLRs and other types have done.

One should buy a camera to fit your needs and not because it's trendy or the latest thing.

The technology is irrelevant as long as the camera does what you want it to do at a price you are willing to pay.

I have an opinion..I love mine.

But...no reason to switch unless you just don't like your T2i.

Here's a fairly long thread about mirrorless, at least from a Nikon point of view. Very good discussion of pros and cons:

At the present, mirrorless cameras have not completely caught up with full frame dslrs, but they are certainly giving the cropped sensor cameras a run for the money. The higher end mirrorless are quite advanced - the focusing systems are as quick and in some cases faster than the best dslrs, dead accurate since you are focusing on the sensor, fast (12 frames per second), and noise levels are getting lower, while dynamic range is increasing. They are small, very convenient, and the electronic viewfinders are pretty amazing and very responsive. They do represent a reasonable alternative for the consumer, but for the lion's share of professional commercial photography, the typical full-frame or medium format camera is still the choice.

My hands are too big to quickly and efficiently use the controls on the mirorless camera I tried.
Something to consider before buying. :-)
