The Grand Canyon of Stikine.
Located off the beaten path in B.C.,Canada, the Canyon is about 70 miles long and relatively few people ever see it.
Its rugged beauty is extremely unfriendly to any visitor who dares to enter by water. If you are interested how bad it gets please use the search feature and look up my topic "Poll: have you ever heard of Grand Canyon of Stikine?" to read an excellent description by D.Ammons. Looking upstream the Canyon gets worse and worse and at one spot the whole river goes thru only 6feet of space.
The lower part does not look so wild but looks are deceiving.A thunder storm is approaching.
The same spot later in the Fall. The rapids at the lower right corner do not look like much but it is tricky and requires a lot of power to make it thru.
This is even lower part where it gets very shallow.
Here Tahltan river (lower right corner) joins the Stikine. It is sacred to Tahltan tribe, photo taken at sunrise.
Low water situation, usually it is impossible to land anywhere inside the Canyon.

It is really interesting looking at the canyon walls and seeing how the river has etched the land....
Remarkable part of the world where one rarely get to see...
Awesome shots, thanks for a tour of the canyon, admire your courage to get these shots and your knowledge of the canyon.
Gorgeous shots. I especially like the ones with the fall colors.
More excellent photos! I think on one of my sojourns north I'll stop for a while and try to see some of the places you so wonderfully showcase. Good work Ivan!
