I just purchased a Nikon D610 and Most of my SD cards
are Transcend class 10. In the manual it does not mention
Transcend as a card that has been tested. Do I need to buy Lexar?

No, your cards will work in the D610. Depending on the write speed, you may find you want some faster cards, but you can continue to buy Transcend if you wish.

Nikon simply lists the handful of brands which they have tested, and they cannot test every single brand.

That card has a 90MB/s read and 45MB/s write speed. I would prefer a card which has a higher write speed, so it is not the limiting component. Recently posted information indicates that the D610 write speed is about 50MB/s.

Most of what I have are class 10 Transcend cards of various size. They work flawlessly and have a lifetime replacement guarantee(save the receipt). I get them from Amazon and I have them in a D600. ENJOY!

True. A little overkill, but after spending $3-4k on the camera package, an extra $50 for the faster card seems acceptable.

I agree. I have begun using the Sandisk Extreme Pro, which reads 95mb/s and writes 90mb/s. I have noticed a great increase in buffer clearing.

Also, I would never fully trust any memory card. For years I used 16gb and now go to 32gb. I've had both CF and SD card failures which cost me dearly. 16gb holds 415 Raw plus jpeg images. Changing cards is easy if you are a pro and will be shooting more than this.

The D610 has dual SD slots, so I would use two 64GB cards, with a copy on each card, instead of four 32GB or eight 16GB cards. I have found that too many cards just becomes harder to keep track of.

Hi, yes I would personally recommend Transcend SDHC Cards. Advise you get the Transcend Ultimate ones - with a fast read/write speed. Sandisk's Extreme SDHC Cards also come highly recommended. . . . BUT I must admit I have ALWAYS avoided Lexar Cards of any kind since having trouble with that brand some years ago.
