We were out shooting birds and the yellow warbler had an itch or something and rubbed itself along a branch sat up and flew away. My wife caught this shot.
What a great shot...probably once-in-a-lifetime one.

If this was in California, I'd say it was having heat stroke. Hard to say for sure, but it looks like the bird has mites on its neck. It's probably scratching because of this.

Thanks all from my wife on her shot. I think your right about bugs of some sort. I had never seen anything like this before either. She was lucky right place at the right time. we were about 50 yards apart using calls, and she got the shot of the weekend.
