The "religion is the cause of most wars..." myth.
You're right! Stupid politicians are the cause of most wars.

HAHA what a great source too!
They cite Adolf Hitler as "non-religious" hilarious. I love where you get your info from. You clearly aren't looking for the truth, but a justification for your beliefs.
Having said that, I think humans would war with or without religion, but religion is as much a part of war as anything throughout world history. Skewing data based on number of deaths isn't a very accurate way to look at it given population, technology and even info gathering advances.

You would classify Adolf Hitler as being "religious?" :?

I wouldn't classify Hitler as religious myself, but to deny that within his regime there were religious or even anti-religious motives is kind of ridiculous to me. Or do jews not count because it was "ethnic" cleansing and not religious?

So you wouldn't classify him as religious. I agree with you, Hitler did not exhibit in practice any of the beliefs of any religion. 8-)

Stef C, Hitler and the Nazi's used Eugenics as a just cause for what they did. Many states in the USA also used eugenics.

That's exactly why I said I wouldn't classify him as religious. There's still a religious element to it. And there was and is plenty of antisemitism in the US as well.
I just think the graph is misleading, and hardly proof of anything

The graph may be misleading but the contention that religion has NO
caused more wars still holds true. There are other studies also supporting this.

That's fair. I can accept that.
Maybe they should be a distinction between wars that end and don't though. It seems like the religious wars (although responsible for a smaller percentage of total death toll vs. secular wars) last a hell of a lot longer, haha!

Really? Got one in mind?
I just mean secular wars like WWI & WW2 ended. Maybe pegging it down to one "single" war wasn't the best way for me to phrase it, but the ongoing conflict in Gaza, Northern Ireland, Sunni/Shi'ite relations in the middle east, etc..
Hitler was not a christian nor was he religious. He did use the name of Christ for his own benefit to rally up the massive Catholic population to support him, but it failed miserably because the Catholics rejected his violent actions against the Jews.
By Dan Brown: "Ever since there has been one true God there has been killing in his name."
