Just bought Canon EF50-250 lens for my T2si and a friend of mine had complaints with blurring on long shots and he is a very good photographer. Has anyone else had problems?

I'm not familar w/ this lens. Any chance you're referring to the EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS lens? If so, although it could be a bad copy, it might also simply be inferior to what you're accustomed to, especially if you've been shooting Canon L lenses. That wouldn't be surprising given that 55-250 is quite a substantial range and the price is in the neighborhood of $250US. As you know, sometimes you get what you pay for. That may be operative here. If you bought retail, can you exchange the lens for another copy or just return it? Either might be useful to consider.

I had one and thought it was a very good lens. Sounds like your friend is the problem.

The only problems I've heard of is vignetting at large apertures. Otherwise, from a price perspective, it's a good value.

I bought that lens last November when Amazon was having a sale on it. Cost a whopping $140. It's become my walkaround lens, replacing two Tamron 70-300 (Tamron has two strikes now) and a Sigma 28-300.

thanks all...sometimes you have to consider the source of your info and I suspect that may be the case here.
Have a great day and be blessed

I think these comments reflect that of most folks shooting with this lens. It may not have "L" quality IQ, but will take some critical viewing to prove that. The vast majority feel it's a very good lens.

It is possible to get an un-sharp lens.

I also have one of these lenses in my kit. I bought it when I was a Canon dealer. The first one I tried was not sharp. The second one was tack sharp! I guess it pays to have them in stock to find the best one on the shelf. Great lens really love it.
