Does anyone have any first-hand (or RELIABLE second-hand) experience with either Digital Hunter or DigtalDOnline ? I see they each have a lens I am considering for substantially less than I have seen it offered elsewhere.

1. www.resellerratings.com

2. If it sounds too good to be true....

3. Use Adorama or B&H as your benchmarks. If any offered product is more than about 10% off of their price for the same item, it's almost certainly a rip-off.

I see the DigitalHunter has the Canon 100-400mm lens for $919. As Adorama and B&H both have this for around $1500, I'd have to strongly caution you about using Digital Hunter. 99 times out of 100, the lens will be OUT OF STOCK, "But we have this special deal, today only, on the XXXXX for just a few dollars more..."

Or they'll charge your Visa $150 for shipping. Twice.

Stay away.

Maybe Freudian slip for emphasis??? :)

Thanks for the tip. I found that rating site, too, and noticed DH was rated under 4.5/10, compared to others i am familiar with (b&h, adorama, cameta) over 9/10.

Never heard of those two... I have always used ebay ( for over 10 years) and NEVER have had ANY complaints with the company OR the dealers.......

I have used Adorama a number of times, and found them to be excellent --- very prompt in filling your order at reasonable prices.

Both Adorama and b & h have been around a long time. As to b & h, some of my friends can't say enough good things about them.

You can get ripped on eBay.

I purchased Lighting in Layers by David Hobby last year and it was counterfeit. I received the purchase price back from eBay but still had to ship (and pay for) it back to the seller. I ended up out $16 but that was better than out $100.

I also think I got ripped on a 32 gb microSDHC I picked up a few months ago from eBay.

I don't have much recourse for that item now. The way it failed leads me to suspect it was counterfeit....and the seller is no longer listed on eBay.

What I'm saying is that, as compared to B&H, Adorama, etc. you have to be careful on eBay.

Over the past couple of years I've bought over 200 items from eBay and only had a problem these two times but I have seen and notified eBay of more than a dozen scams that have been listed. EBay does not do a good job of policing their listings even when notified of illegalities.
