I have 2 Sony's. An older Alpha 100 & an Alpha 850. You should have a cable to plug into a port inside the door on the right side of the camera near the card slot. The cable will plug into a USB port on your laptop. Your other option would be to get an inexpensive card reader. They're available for less than $20.00. I think I bought 1 at Wal-Mart for about $15.00.

All you should have to do is plug your camera into your laptop. The laptop should recognize the camera as an external drive and all you'll have to do is work your way down through the folders.

SONY now has a RAW file reader/convertor program that should be available on their website. JPEG files should be no problem to download to your computer though and LR is a great program for keeping track of your photo library as well as PP work. Just make sure your computer meets the minimum system requirements for he program and you have enough disk storage space and some method for backup.

Hi,

Once you have loaded the sony software if you want it but it is not required. (available at sony.com), make sure your camera is turned off when you plug it in. When you plug it in and turn it on your laptop should see the camera as a new drive. And you should be all set.

How this helps!

BTW: I shoot with the a200 and the a850 :) .

Light Room is a $100.00 option as mentioned above. The alternative would be Picasa, free. Will build your catalogs and due some adjustments, crop and email.

If you down load, when you plug your camera or card reader into your computer, it will sense the files and ask you what you wish to do with them.
