Wow GW that's pretty inventive but I just throw mine in my pocket.

Thanks... I use to do the same ,but got tired of cleaning off the pocket lint, or sitting down and breaking cap...

Looks like it's more trouble then it's worth.
Lens cap keepers are cheap enough, if you don't want to put the cap in your pocket.
Check these out.

I guess how much trouble it is is how handy you are, I have partial nerve loss in my hands and it only took me about 10 minutes...plus it was a good use for extra parts...

Hey GW, good idea for sure. I tinker around and make stuff too. It's fun and you can come up with all kinds of answers to lifes little needs. And now you own a one of a kind. Besides, necessity is the mother of invention.

I was almost going to jump on the wagon with my "I just throw mine in my pocket" reply, when I realized that your idea, while it may be a little over-the-top for some, keeps the clip and the O-ring out of the landfill. You're my new hero!
Keep up the good work!

I just jumped from the "Adobe Products For Pictures" topic and notice that you, and Elle, have the same Avatar???? You both live on L.I. Are you a couple sharing the same avatar?

I throw mine in my pocket, in my camera bag or even (gasp) on the ground by my bag. It's a lens cap, they cost $10 or so, if I misplace one it's not the end of the world.

Call me crazy(again) but I have extra 52 & 58mm generic caps in my bag and ya know what?.. Now I'll never loose one cuz I have spares.
It's kinda like having a good spare tire.

I have a cord on my lens cap. Because I take pictures on windy days, I found that the cap would shake the camera even when it's on the tripod, SO, I took a snap swivel out of my tackle box, tied the cap on it, and clip it on the ring on the camera. When I want to remove the lens cap, I unclip it and stick it in my pocket.
