Photoshop CS

Hello all.
Today I found a 'copy' of Photoshop CS that was given to me some time ago. I did not purchase it. It had a registration number and I put it in the comuter and it worked! But of course it wants to be registered on line or by phone. This computer does not have internet connection and I really do not want to talk to some-one on the phone about a copy. As it is a copy I have no idea where it came from. It said you have 30 days to register. What happens then? Does anyone know? Does it self detruct or can it be reinstalled?
Thanks,
Wendy

I could be dead-wrong, but I think there is a registry value that will kick in after 30 days and you will not be able to use the program without registration online or by phone. So it will open and prompt you for the code, if you don't enter it, the program will automatically close.

But I don't understand where your registration code came from? Is it a stolen/black market copy (not by you of course)?

That program is roughly 10 years old. I would just run it for 30 days and if it quits, then I would make the call. I doubt that Adobes will have any registration records on a 10-year-old program. They will probably just give you a new activation code. You certainly have nothing to lose by trying.

Thanks Charles, it was a long time ago that I was 'given' this copy. I can no longer contact the person who gave it to me. It is a copy on a regular CD and the # was on the envelope. Where it came from originally I do not know. I do not know where the original came from.
So I need to get busy on this project in case it goes 'poof' and goes away!

Chop, chop!

Have you considered demoing Adobe's Creative Cloud or Elements? That is, if and when your CS stops working.

Good luck with your project!

You can still download CS2 for free and complete with registration numbers from the Adobe website.

Why use an old bootleg copy of CS when you may as well get a new one. Just saying, bootleg is bootleg. If you don't have the original CD/DVD and original copy of the S/N (registration) card, it's bootleg.

No, it is the real full version. Adobe no longer wanted to support the licensing server so they are giving permanent code for this old CS2 version. It is intended to only be used by people who legally purchased and own a legal copy of CS2 and need to reinstall or move it to another computer. It is on the honor system at this point.

Why not purchase the photography option of Photoshop CC for $10.00 a month for a month or two (includes LR-5 and other goodies as well) to complete your project. The latest versions of PS are so much improved that many things can now be done in seconds that will take hours (if possible at all) using CS2. Part of the equation is how much is your time worth?

Have you tried that recently? It was a dead link a while back. It kept running me around in circles. I didn't want it, but I wanted to see if it would work.

If the original owner unregistered or deactivated it (whatever term they use), and you have a valid registration number, it should work.

Let us know what happens.
