Cropped and sharpened a bit. I'll try again in the next say or so, trying to get a sharper image.

Welcome...I am enjoying looking at the posts made with the 150-600...that's my next lens. :)

That's one reason I am posting some of the pictures I am posting----to show off what that lens is capable of, in applications most people don't use it for. Hopefully you also saw the shot of the Andromeda Galixy I displayed on the regular site. I'm pretty jazzed with my new lens, and hope to eventually get some bird pictures, among other things. You'll enjoy that lens, though to me, it was a bit intimidating at first!

I put in my order today with B&H.
Now to see when my starship comes in.
(Grandma's gonna wring my neck!)
I decided to just jump over the moon and get the big Tamron.
Those Humming Birds are going to look like 747's.

How much did you crop your moon shot?

You're going to love that big Tamron! It's a bit intimidating at first, but you'll get used to it....and the sharpness....oh my! Blows me away!
You asked how much I had cropped the moon. Probably about 1/2. I'll try to send the original, but the lens was sharp enough that it took the cropping very well.
Could easily cropped more, but tried to get everything in the frame.

Thanks!
I've been looking and watching the reviews and I'm as sure as I can be (short of a test drive) that the Tamron is where I would like to go right now.
It's a big leap, but it picks up where my 55-200 mm leaves off.
I doubt I will want for any more magnification. And I kind of doubt I could really handle more, I doubt I could steady it well. But I do have my antique tripod. :D And a mono-pod, come to think about it. :?
When Grandma asks, "What the hell is that for?"
I'm gonna say, "astronomy." She does like using our spotting scope to look at the moon. And the grand kids playing sports.
Thanks for sharing your moon shot.
