Marine Being Held In Mexican Jail
Jun 30, 2014 04:42:36   #
Gitzo Loc: Indiana

I received this in my email today; Having lost my debit card at Menard's Thursday evening, I won't be able make a donation until my new card arrives one day this week; so far I have been unable to locate the card I lost, but my bank put a stop payment on it and they tell me that no one has tried to use the lost card.

I plan to write half a dozen emails and letter to various people in Washington about this sorry incident. I'm also going to email Fox News and attempt to find out if this email is in fact legitimate.

Please don't take this as a solicitation; at this point, it's only "information" that still needs to be verified.

...you're decorated, combat wounded veteran of two tours in Afghanistan;
...you're admitted to a Veterans Hospital for treatment;
... and you're being held against your will in a horrible Mexican jail.

My son Andrew, 25 years of age, is a current inactive Reservist in the Marine Corps, meritoriously promoted to Sergeant who served with honor in two tours in Afghanistan. After being honorably discharged active duty from the Marine Corps, Andrew went to San Diego in March to receive treatment for PTSD. While driving in Southern California, he unknowingly took a wrong turn and wound up at a Mexican Customs Checkpoint. He was denied the right to turn back and was arrested for carrying firearms into Mexico that are legally registered in the United States. In desperation, he even called 9-11 for help. Now, he is in jail in Mexico (he's been moved to three different jails), has been denied bail, and is being represented by the third attorney ordered.

We have appealed to the State Department... but John Kerry "raised the issue". We have filed a petition with the White House ... but President Obama has ignored our pleas.

Andrew is not an "issue". He is a grave, serious, URGENT CONCERN.

I have been honored to be a featured guest on Fox News with Greta Van Susteren, and other major cable news networks that have covered Andrew's case. I hope that you're seen or heard something about my son on the news.

Everyone agrees — Andrew shouldn't be in jail, yet all of his life savings will be spent on his defense of an unintentional entry. This horrific experience has broken Andrew physically, emotionally and financially. So today, I'm as my last resort, as a mother, I'm asking for your immediate help.

Are you able to make a generous donation of $25 or whatever you can afford to Andrew's liberty fund?

If you want to learn more about our situation, and I truly hope that you do, please click here to watch a short video that includes reporting from Fox News about our situation. When you're finished watching, please consider making a generous contribution to liberate Andrew.

I'm so fortunate to have the assistance of many friends and organizations here in America that have helped me set up the Sgt. Andrew Tahmooressi Liberty Fund.

The truth is, I'm just a mom from Florida. I'm not a diplomat, or an international lawyer, or a strong Marine like my son. I need help to get Andrew out of jail and to bring him home and for that I'm going to need to hire talented lawyers... lawyers that I can't afford and that our government isn't willing to provide.

So that's why I need your urgent help. Will you make a donation of $25, $50, $100 or whatever you can afford to the Sgt. Andrew Tahmooressi Liberty Fund today?

I really hope you're with me on this...

I know the American people are not ok with a decorated, combat wounded Marine being unfairly held in a Mexican jail. And that's why I am emailing you today.

Thank you in advance for your support.

I hope that you can make a donation, or at the very least, give us your support so we can urge the Obama Administration to show some interest in freeing my son.

Sincerely,
Jill Tahmooressi

Comments;

From everything I've heard on the news, the information above is the way it happened. This situation could be resolved in one day without anyone needing to spend a dime, IF.........we had anyone in Washington DC with any "testicles"; unfortunately, we don't have; but we sure DO HAVE a clown-in-chief who thinks Congress should spend "several BILLION" taxpayer dollars on making things "comfy" for illegals, many (or maybe MOST ) of whom were "lured" into illegally sneaking into this country by the same dirt bag who refuses to get Andrew Tahmoorissi out of a Mexican jail where he is being held for ransom.

Doesn't matter if he's a marine. Quote the AP: His version of events, however, has become muddled because he initially claimed he had never been to Mexico but reporters later discovered he had registered earlier that day in a $24 a-night hotel in downtown Tijuana.

Semper fidelis.

Don't wish to be a bad sport but hullo? Being treated for PTSD & carrying weapons? Wrong turn to a place who don't appreciate guns? From California into Mexico? At what point did he realise it was a wrong turn? & couldn't turn back? If he turned up at my place with guns & ammo, I'd be a little sceptical of his motives too. PTSD & all.
Only a mums love could see innocence in that scenario.

Huh?

From the LA Times article cited:

"At the July 9 hearing in Tijuana, Tahmooressi is prepared to tell the judge that he crossed into Mexico by mistake when he missed the turnoff on Interstate 5 to remain in the U.S. Possession of weapons is illegal in Mexico and several signs along the freeway warn travelers."

I certainly feel sympathy, but I wonder if he was breaking California law, carrying all that stuff in a pickup truck?

He had been over the border crossing before. As have I. It is very well marked.

Even so, he stayed in a Tijuana hotel the night before he was arrested in Mexico. He's guilty. He should be in jail.

Why do people keep trying to spin this as if he were a Prisoner of War.
He committed a crime in another Country and it had nothing to do with his military service. If a veteran kills his family or runs a red light, is it inexcusable to prosecute him?
I don't think so.

I agree with you. He got caught violating laws of another country. If I travel to Canada and forget to leave my carry weapon at home, same thing will happen. I would have to deal with it.

I do not know if any of you have ever crossed into Mexico from San Diego or San Ysidro, but it is pretty obvious, for a long while, that you are approaching the border of foreign country.
And, Mexican border authorities could care less why you are entering the country, assuming that you'll spend $$, so you get waived through.

There must have been something fishy about Tahmooressi when he crossed the border.

Well Mexican people commit crimes in this country by the millions every day, ie illegal aliens, and our administration ignores it. I don't see why the Mexican government is so rigid when they knowingly participate in breaking our laws

You ever been to Mexico? The Federal Government there is in collusion with Narcos and Coyotes that prey on the undocumented wishing to escape corruption, crime, murder and mayhem by coming to the United States?

Why do't you get all up in arms regarding the National Corporations and businesses that employ the undocumented? When was the last time state and local governments rigidly enforced these laws?

Illegal immigration feeds a vacuum created by employers willing to violate the law.
