Canon makes great printers and towels. lol You are so funny

Their towels are a lot better than their printers. I have a 11"x14" towel.

Happy 80TH birthday, Peter. Celebrated mine in January. Had a Pentax and a Minolta SRT and my first autofocus was the EOS 620. Love it and still have. First DSLR, a Canon 50D and I am very happy with it. We can all argue which is a better camera. Canon, NIkon, Pentax, Sony, etc. Hey they all have shutter, aperture and manual exposure. It's the person behind the camera that make the picture. My reason for liking Canon is I found it user friendly. But to each his own.

You know, all this bantering back and forth over Nikon and Canon....and some of the other brands is really moot. Nobody's likely to change their mind on which camera they're using.

You made your choice on a camera system somewhere and sometime in the past. My choice is a carry over from the 1960's when I ultimately chose Nikon. I'd shot at least 6 different brands before settling on Nikon. I'm used to Nikon and I trust their equipment. It's NEVER failed me yet. (Looks around nervously and knocks on wood).

As somebody pointed out earlier, it's not really the camera, it's the person wielding the camera. There are people on this site that can take better pictures with a point-n-shoot camera than some people can with the most elaborate, priciest DSLR out there.

So, really, folks, I hope nobody ever gets too serious about this argument over which camera is best.

Now, I leave you with this one final thought, Nikon makes real cameras, all others are like Sharpshooter claiming to be in Northern California......just wannabes.
;) ROFLMFAO

Have a great Fourth of July everybody.

I am a first time poster, and this hilarious thread was my introduction to the hedgehog forum! If the rest of this website is as enjoyable, I'm sorry I waited so long to join! Thanks for brightening my day!

I owned one - briefly - its sensor attracted dust better than a Dyson vacuum cleaner.
I always knew those Dyson vacuums were absolutely worthless!

I recently decided to conduct a very exhaustive and scientific study to determine if Nikon or Canon is the preferred camera. In order to conduct the study my wife and I went on a ten-day cruise to Bermuda and I counted the number of Canon camera users versus the number of Nikon camera users. I counted only DSLR cameras since a number of the females with smaller cameras refused to let me close enough to determine their camera type or anything else for that matter. My wife said she understood why they refused. I accused her of being a sexists and she accused me of being a dirty old man, which is where we left that issue.
For the Nikon users I am happy to report that Nikon by a margin of four to one beat out Canon. Ok I discounted thirty or so Canon users who were technically illiterate and thus had purchased the camera without knowing what they were buying. I still do not understand how the ship’s captain could have owned a Canon and still be permitted to captain the ship. Well maybe because the captain was a female and did not know any better. My wife pointed out that at one port all the other ships were parked with the pointy end of the ship (a nautical term) facing into the dock while our captain had the roundy end of the ship (another nautical term) pointed into the dock. I asked our cabin steward why we had backed in and he said, “Oh she’s just showing off,” which is typical of a Canon camera owner.
I had planned to take some pictures to post here, but since I have only had my Nikon 5200 for a little over two months, I have not figured out how to turn it on. I am just about to the point of getting out the owner’s manual but not quite there yet. My wife said if I have not figured the camera out by the time we head to the Vietnam Helicopter Pilot’s reunion she is going to start using it for a door stop. Typical of a woman who uses an almost eight year old Canon Sure Shot and thinks she is a real photographer. Once I get my Nikon turned on I’ll show her what a real camera will do.

The thousands of little cameras that you did not count were all mirrorless cameras! They are so inconspicuous ;-)

So if I'm reading this right you work with a Nikon D610? I'm looking at maybe getting that camera, how do you like it?

NO! I am just kicking myself for not waiting another year and buying the D610 :-(

From what I hear D610 is the same camera but without the plagued-shutter and in upgrading the shutter the 610 gained a 0.5 fps (5.5 to 6 fps) which may not be a big deal for most, as well as a quieter setting.

To add insult to injury, folks who bought extended warranties are being coaxed to go to Nikon since the service advisory was announced!

Actually, the spectrum of flecks, oil, whatever eventually lands on the sensor (D600) from what I have seen in web/forum examples runs the gamut from a few spots to close to several dozens!
