I'm curious of what's required to make the pictures of people that are attached to their gravestones?
How are they made and how are they attached?

I would think that you would give the picture you want to use to whoever you are ordering the stone from. They then scan and copy the image and print in on some kind of lasting paper. Then the ones I have seen are placed inside plastic/ sealed in it, usually oval, and that is stuck on with some kind of adhesive. I know some of the older stones here where I live vandals have been able to pull the pictures off or the pictures are fading really bad. The newer stones though that have them they still look good.
In our state, the people are typically buried, not attached to their gravestones. Perhaps you can use some sort of adhesive like funeral homes use?
In the old days, I printed onto anodized aluminum. Now, I'm sure there is a way to digitally print photographs onto metal.

They use super glue but don't know if that would prevent... never mind. Not going there!

I LOVE this Internet thing. At the bottom of my last grave post, there were ads for cemetery services, gravestones, and other such stuff.

Rayford,
There is a process of acid etching that is used to put photo style images on headstones. I have family in the business Riley Monuments, I will check with them for the complete process.

Hi Robert , tell me how did you print on the alumni. I saw a photo printed on metal not to long ago and .I have been wondering how they do that ?? Do you have to paint some kind of emulsion on the metal ?
Thanks
Bob
This question came to mind after seeing that beautiful sand-blasted picture of an owner's dog on a piece of granite. I saw this picture yesterday on UHH but deleted it and can't relocate it.

Geez...I guess some people are REALLY attached to their "pet rocks".
