Since Manfrotto has not responded to my inquiry, I know I can depend on you for expert advice. Need I be concerned about overstressing this tripod head? (Bogen 3063)

It's right on the edge. If you zoom out, the stress might change, so you better not do that. I'm not surprised Manfrotto has not responded, they don't want to admit any limitation, even something as challenging as this.

I dunno RWR,
You might need to use it with a smaller camera. :XD:

Hang about 40# of concrete on her and she should be good to go!

The one in the thumbnail looks a little iffy, but the one in the download photo looks much bigger. I'd go with the second one.

Wow you'd best to wait to hear back from Manfrotto, it's probably in engineering right now to build you something

Say, thanks all for your assistance. I'll just use it for a hat rack (not my straw hat, though - that's too fragile lol).

I'm surprised that you left it on there long enough to snap that photo. You must not care for it too much. You are braver than I am.

I would have moved it sooner, but didn't want to disturb a couple of bashful caterpillars mating in the bushes.

Do NOT use that rig with the column extended. It could be blown over be any hurricane that happens along!

I'm gonna suggest a tripod ring for that lens. That's an awfull lot of weight for that body to support on that tripod like that.

WOW !!!
I admire your ability to live on the edge. You are one brave person.

(I hope your equipment survived the challenge. Amazing.)

I also see you connected the camera straight to the tripod and did not use a lens support, I agree, you're pretty brave!

I don't know about brave - foolish is probably more like it. Think I'll just weld a stud on the top of my Hi-Lift jack & use it as a monopod. It's in the Jeep all the time, anyway. Will work on the lens support, too. I'd never have thought of all these great tips if I hadn't posted this.
