Thinking the snake went up there for a meal of fresh eggs.

Hi Linda! I think that is exactly what he was after.

Caterpillars become butterflies and woodpeckers become snakes. NO?

Yep, he got the eggs! We had a birds nest up in our laundry room with Wren eggs, and the same thing happened...my husband was home thankfully! When the snake dropped down from the cabinets.

Great shots Lamar, I had one of those Red Rat Snakes get into a small hole in the mortar between bricks on the front of my house and then stick his head out. Must be an ambush position. Hope the woodpecker got away. :-D

Last month I found this Red-bellied Woodpecker working hard on it's nest. A couple of weeks later I stopped by to check on the nest and found this snake had taken over. I was amazed the snake could get up a tree that had no branches. I thought some of you might find this interesting. Comments always appreciated.

He went in looking to eat the eggs or babies, great shots, Lamar, nice and sharp
