Barn Door Mount is built... pics to follow
ok so it is built... i went with one of the simplest plans i could find..
2 pieces of wood a hinge a drive screw... a paint stick as my finger drive... a little paint to make it look cool like the night sky
home made ball mount for camera out of a doll head and plumbing stuff
and when the camera is on this thing the quick release tripod mount just comes off of the camera and screw into the bottom of the barn door mount.... clever
now the weather man says tues night or wed niight before clear skys and photo ops for me
will post my results as soon as i have some

what it post-to do
spose to track the stars... for longer exposure time without the trails
just point the hinge at the north star and turn the handle once a minute (actually a quarter turn every 15 seconds)
we shall see

Are you concerned that touching the screw-handle will bump the camera ever so slightly to produce 'shake' or a 'double-star'?
My thought is that you might want to use a thick rubber-band as a shock absorber when turning the handle.

That depends on whether you are in the northern or southern hemisphere.

Too funny, I love the humor on this site.
Very intriguing MacGuyver!
Looking forward to the photographic results.
