This lens has been on back-order for a while. The Adorama page now says, "Please Note! This Item is on the way to our warehouse and is expected in a few days." If this is a lens which interests you, you might want to contact them.

This is reputed to be a SPECTACULAR lens. Good shooting and I look forward to getting your usual thoughtful insight.

Yes it's probably a very good lens, But don't be fooled
by the word art. Its not going to make you an
artist. Lens makers have been making all kind of
claims for as long as I can remember.
I have been buying lenses since the early 60's and
I really don't think they have improved prime lenses.
They have really improved zooms.
Untill about 20-25 years ago zooms were not very good.
Buy with your eyes wide open.

Call what you like. It is the fastest and sharpest lens in its range. The price is reasonable.

I would buy it immediately if its was a FX lens. I have no interest is DX lenses.

Yes prime lenses too have improved greatly over the last 25 years.

I will not be getting it, because I only have full frame bodies, and this is an APS-C lens ("DC" in Sigma-speak). I posted this for people who are using DX cameras.

The Sigma Art series lenses have generally been very, very good: 35mm f/1.4 DG, 24-105mm f/4 DG, and 50mm f/1.4 DG are the other three which come to mind. In this case, Sigma has produced a lens which neither Nikon or Canon have even tried.

Not really. I can't tell that they are any better now
than they were even if we go back fifty years.

I bought a used Kodak Retina camera made in
west Germany (rangefinder) back in the
early 60's that was the sharpest lens I have ever owned.
