I have an opportunity to purchase a slightly used (actually only one trip) and I would like to have you opinions on this camera. Does anyone have one and do you like it? Would you suggest it as a walk around camera? I also have an Canon 40D, but I was looking for something smaller and amazing.

Highly recommended here. Excellent point n shoot. It's No SLR as far as speed, but for everything else it works well.
Thanks for the reply. I did alot of research, but it is best to talk to an actual owner.

I own one for two years. Go to Flickr.com and look at the images (skydiverbob). It's not an SLR but takes some awesome pictures. It does have some detail limitations in the landscape area. That's because the lens is not a thousand $ lens. I carry this camera everywhere I go. Great camera!!!
Thanks Bob, I will look at your pictures.

Look at Gab and Monty album. Some of the other albums were done with a Canon D10. Sorry for the confusion. The Sunkenmeadow beach scenes were also done with the G11.
Beach scenes and snow scenes come out fantastic on the auto settings for those programmed scenes.
If you agree leave me some comments on the pics you think rate...
Bob, I looked at most of your pictures on Flicker, and I think you have made up my mind. I love the detail that this camera takes. I love the SLR, but hate carrying different lenses when I am out and about. I just want to get the picture and move on.

I have had a G9 for four years and shoot more shots with that camera than I do with my DSLRs. It also takes great HDR sets as well.
I have a G10 and it is with me all the time. It is a great camera. It does so much. The menu system is like the 40D. It has built in ND filters. It is rugged. Has good range. I hand hold it for b&W night club shots with no flash. I cannot say enough good things about the camera. It reminds me of my Leica.

How do you set it for HDR?
thanks

I have used my new one (G11) for about 2 years and had very satisfying pictures carrying it around Disney World (night and fireworks pictures) and using it for closeups in the backyard. I originally bought it for its small size and raw file capability and its manual capabilities. The only disappointment was its internal battery went bad, but fortunately it had one month left on the warranty and Canon repaired it quickly without charge. The eyepiece focusing is useless, maybe because I wear eyeglasses.
If memory serves there is a rubber cup that makes using the viewfineder glasses friendly
