Obtrusive ads on UHH

I've recently be getting obtrusive pop-up advertisements on UHH, even over where I'm trying to read or type. I installed Adblock for Internet Explorer, but they still appear here. I'm using Windows 7. Does anyone have a solution?

Edit: When I click the X to close the ad, does it indicate to UHH that the ad has been read? Because if it does, I'll never click another one.

Install Adblock Plus and/or using another browser with Adblock Plus installed.

Adblock Plus is what I installed. Is there a way to configure it?

Be especially careful when clicking on an X in a pop-up.

Hover your cursor over the X and make sure at the bottom of your screen the URL isn't taking you somewhere else than the subject of the pop-up

IE., Add is about Nikon D800 at http://www.nikonusa.com and when you hover over the X the URL is showing something like http://viruscity.com/viruscity.exe

I'm using Adblock Pro on both IE and Chrome -- never see any ads. This link may help you -- http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20131114014831AAgbfRs

There's also the possibility that your machine may be infected with some malware. Might try either the free or paid version of Malwarebytes -- it's not an anti-virus, but it does identify & remove a lot of malware & adware that many AVs do not seem to catch. http://www.malwarebytes.org/

I suspect the ads are an attempt to pay for some of the hosting and time spent running UHH, and providing completely free use. I can relate, as I run a blog website myself, and it ends up costing me more than comes back in. Personally, I think UHH provides a worthy platform. If you agree, and you happen to see an ad for a think you want, it would help out if you clicked on it.

Enable it for the site you are viewing. You should see a red ABP logo in your system tray. If it is gray you need to right click and enable for the site.

Yes, I'm happy to support UHH, and do not want to block their unobtrusive ads. :)

I should have mentioned in my initial post that the logo does not appear, as I thought it should. I shall turn off my anti-virus and reinstall. Thanks for responding. :)

AdwCleaner 3.213

AdwCleaner is a tool that deletes Adware/Toolbar/PUP/Hijacker.

Had good luck with it.
