Pretty good for a first go. I also use a Tamron 90mm on my D7100 (mine is the earlier model without VC). It's a sharp lens & you will get some great pics with that combination. :-) :-)

the documentation is lacking but I hope to find a few review videos to help shorten the learning curve

thank you, I should crop out some of the dead space so you can find the focal point in the future
