Yes, Total Digital Photography was the text book I used for the latest photo class I just took at the local Jr. College. It covers all the basics and then some. I have had a few books on photography and never finished any of them until I got this book. I bought it for about 5 dollars, used, on Amizon.com. I can't say enough good about it. Not sure of the author's name.

Thanks Marionsho. Does the book you recommend include astrophotography? I didn't express what I was looking for very well.

No, if it does, it's just one page. I'm sure there's some out there on astrophotography. I would be interested also. First I would like a new Canon 6D to go along with it. I need to get out there and play with my tripod and see what I can do with my XTi.

Michael Covington has a couple that I've checked out from our local library . They are pretty pricey if you purchase them. Amazon, however, has used that are reasonable. Good luck!

Jerry Lodriguss is a photographer and astronomer. He has several ebooks in html on astrophotography. The price for each is around $40. So, google "Jerry Lodriguss".
