Browser problem with UHH

I consulted with Admin on this problem but he was unaware of a problem. Perhaps someone else has the same problem.

When on the main or forum pages or posting messages, my browser will time out. Refreshing the screen, clearing the browser and dns caches, closing the tab and starting over usually does not fix the problem. I have the problem on IE and Firefox in two different locations having different computers and ISP's.

Any ideas?

2. I am infrequently on UHH on my laptop using IE - no problems

I am not aware that UHH even has a time-out function. I've been logged on for days when I've gone out of town and left my browser open on my home computer. It's still open and on the site when I return (I just confirmed this by remote connecting to my home computer, and sure enough UHH was still in an open tab on my browser).

I think you have somehow set a local session management preference on your computer(s). Since it's cross-browser affected, this suggests it's a general setting and not something the browser itself is doing.

Check your Internet settings and see if you don't have some sort of time-out or inactivity setting set.

Try running IE with no add-ons. See if that resolves that problem. If so you have an add-on that needs to be disabled.

In Windows 7, to run your Internet Explorer in the no add-ons mode, Open Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Internet Explorer (No Add-ons).

I am on here with Win7 and IE and or Fire Fox. Have not had any problems. I have experience some delays at times when the other idiots in the neighborhood are using their internet too as our Brighthouse Broadband has a shared throughput back to the station.. This means that everyone in your neighborhood is sharing bandwidth and drops what each individual gets. Verizon's Fios is fiber to the house and every household gets the full bandwidth that they pay for. The reason for the long explanation is that part of the lag may be your provider.

I should have been clearer. Times out when opening or refreshing pages, not when idle.

This only happens to me if I am trying to upload or download a large photo. I keep my upload photos pretty small, but sometimes I forget 8-) to change the export specs and run into this.

Their servers seem to be able to handle the load, so it must be something on your end.

Sounds more like an ISP or web connection problem than browser or computer related. Maybe an issue with a 'router' ??
