So my d 7000 has been sitting for a while and when I picked it up today to take some pics of my spa being delivered it would not auto focus. I have a battery grip on it and replaced the batteries in the grip but did not charge the camera battery. It took pics just would not autofocus. Any one have that problem or idea of what may be up
I hate to have to ask, but is the bodies AF/M switch set to AF? And if the lens has a AF/M switch, is it also set to AF? Either one set to M will not give you autofocus.
lol don't I feel stupid...Thanks MT it was the lens AF switch

It is almost always user error. Glad to be of service.
Happy for you that the switch was all it was. You'll never forget that now.

Did the exact same thing when I got my first DSLR, the D-70. Also, back when I was new to the D-70, I had focus point lock on once, and had to shoot a full wedding without being able to move the focus point, because I didn't have my manual with me and I just couldn't figure it out.
It does pay to keep your manual with you in your bag, just for those brain farts.
