Lake Sunset Motel

This old motel is just west of Fremont, Nebraska. I took these pictures two months ago. I was driving by last Sunday and it was on fire, burning to the ground. It looked like a controlled fire to me but I'm not certain. One problem with photographing old buildings, as I enjoy doing, is that often they're not there very much longer.

At least you how it documented. What really blows is when they tear it down or it burns before you get your shots.

Interesting series; were they shot in IR?

Thanks for looking Sirius 1. No, they were shot in regular color. I went back and checked my processing tho and saw that I had seriously reduced the blue and green filtration to make the sky darker. The leaves in the background were very light to begin with, and lessening the green filtration make them all the lighter (I think anyway).

Thanks Steve. Actually, I didn't see the shadow at the time the picture was snapped, only after looking at the images later.

They were using it for tracking training firefighters.

Thank you Steven for the article. I haven't been by there for nearly a year now so don't know if anything new is being built in its place.

Funny, the only reason I came across this is because it came up on my Facebook memories. I was in that area on this day in 2016, came across that motel, and took a pic of the motel sign. Once I saw it, I decided to google it and this thread came up, and right below it was the article I shared with you.
