Old Photoshop 7 CD

I have a couple of very old Photoshop 7.0 CD's. I tried to load them today in a 4yr old laptop. It recognised the disc and all was well until it came to the install part, then nothing. It did not ask for the #. So do I assume the discs are old and need to be coasters, or do you think there is any hope that I can use this old laptop, that is still functioning. My husband retired it as it could no longer get an internet connection and to have it diganosed and repaired was not much less than a new one.

I have been, and continue to use, PhotoShop 7.0. as my main editing program. I have used it with every Windows version including my current Windows 7. It requires a ton of memory and that may be the problem on an older laptop. Don't discard it until you try it on the new computer. For computer repairs, check with your local Technical College. The one by me in FL repairs computers for a flat $10 plus the parts at cost.

There is plenty of memory on this computer. I thought all was well as it recognised it, but stopped short of the code input?

If it asked for a serial number, that number has to be authenticated by Adobe. It needs to be connected to the internet to be activated probably. You could call Adobe and see if they can activate it over the phone.

I'm not sure that that is correct. I had Photoshop 7 many,many years ago. When I installed it I don't think it had to be verified by Adobe or required an internet connection. I assumed it had the serial code verification hidden within the disc.
To become a registered user you needed the internet connection.

Make sure there are no scratches on the CD surface. Clean them with Water and Tooth Paste.

As I recall, when downloading PhotoShop 7.0, there is a serial number that you have to type in to get the whole thing moving and apparently that is where the problem lies ...., the program is not asking for it. If it is a legally purchased version, I would call Adobe and see if they could help you.
