This bug was enjoying my wife's flowers. Is this a Hummingbird moth? My wife thinks it is. Not the greatest photos, taken with my wife's Nikon 8200.

It is a hawkmoth. This one is at rest from energy spent feeding. They hover like a hummingbird and their wings do the figure eight routine. Their defense mechanism is to appear to be a bumblebee. They love lilac bushes in full boom. Their proboscus curls in and out like holiday noisemaker. It is a beautiful creature ; you would be surprised how many people have no knowledge/awareness of them.
