Does anyone know the water proof capabilities of the D7000. They advertise seals? Anyone have experience in the rain? I know it can't go underwater(tho is directed to the comedians out there)Nikon really give's limited info on this. Is it really just a dust seal? Any info would be appreciated.
From the review by Nasim Mansurov of the D7000
As for weather and dust protection, Nikon says that the D7000 is sealed to withstand tough weather and dusty environments. I did not have a chance to test it in a dusty environment, but I did take it with me to shoot in very cold temperatures below zero. The camera functioned very well without any problems, but the battery did not last very long, which is normal, because batteries do drain fast in very cold temperatures.
Here, from Nikon's site, is a good representation of the water-resistant D7000. Please not that not all areas of the camera have been made water-resistant. Why? I'm not sure, but apparently if it's sprinking and the game's going on you should be ok. I wouldn't stand out in a downpour without an umbrella over the camera, though. It doesn't appear as though the bayonet mount is covered.

There are underwater housings for the D7000, if that is your aim:

Please remember, "weather resistant" and "weather proof" do not mean the same!
