EOS remote app and IPAD, IPHONE and Canon 6d

Hi all, this question to all of you photographic genius's involves using the eos remote on 2 devices, my iPad AND my iphone.
I currently have it connected, and working very well with my iPad, however I cannot connect to my iphone. Is this a case of only being able to connect to a single device? If so, how can I disconnect the iPad connection in my 6D and establish a connection with the iPhone?

Hi Rodwil

You can set up the camera to connect to three different smartphones/ipad.

When you select connect to smartphone then highlight choose set and you will see Set1 then 2 lines saying unspecified. Set1 should be your present setup with your iPad.

highlight the first unspecified and select it then select Camera access point mode and ok you will then get a screen connect to the following access point with smartphone,

then on your iPhone select wifi in settings and then select your camera from the list and when it asks for a password type in the encryption key shown on your camera, your iPhone will then make the connection, then open your eos remote and pair to the camera.

hope this helps, you can change the name of the set as well to help you remember which one is which.

You have to go through the setup again and create a connection for the ipad.
I have two connections set up...one called iPhone and one called ipad.
Then when I want to connect, I select which device I want to connect to.

The camera will start a different wireless network depending on which device you select.
This isn't like a home wireless router that uses the same password (key) for every device that connects to it. Your ipad and iPhone will use different keys that are provided as part of the set up process.
You can't connect both at the same time but once set up...it is a very simple matter to switch between the two.

The EOS remote app allow you to connect to a Canon 6D or 70D to control the camera remotely as well as view images.
I have to say that the whole package (canon camera wifi and eos app) could use a little more polish but.....it works and I use it quite a bit.

I have tried this repeatedly. 6D (network) eventually shows on iPhone, but every time I try to connect, it says "unable to connect to network". I must be doing something wrong...

Let me know where the process below fails and maybe I can help.

You will go through the exact same steps setting up a connection to your iPad as you did setting up a connection to your iPhone.

Steps;
-install EOS remote app (this is an iphone app so make sure you don't have "ipad only) selected. the iphone app works fine on the iPad.
-enable WiFi via the third "wrench" icon on the camera menu
-select Wi-Fi function from the same menu
-select "Connect to smartphone
-select choose set
-select unspecified
-select Camera access point mode (click OK)
-select Easy connection (click OK)
-Go to your iPad Settings menu
-select Wi-Fi
-Under "Choose a Network" select your Canon 6D
-Enter the Encryption key displayed on your 6D's LCD
-at this point your iPad should connect to your 6D
-Start the EOS remote app on your iPad.
-select "Camera Connection" (bottom of app)
-click on "pairing"
-look back at your camera LCD and select OK
-At this point you have the opportunity to give this connection a "Settings Name" (I named mine "iPad" this must be different than the name you gave to the settings for your iPhone.
-You may have to go back to the Wi-Fi settings on your iPad and reconnect to your 6D.
-Once you do....you can use EOS remote on your iPad.

I just ran through this using my 6D and my wife's iPad so I know it works.
Forget about iPad vs iPhone. Just think of each of them as a mobile device.

I finally figured it out. The reason it would not connect is that I must have activated the wifi link previously, so in the iPhone, I just pressed "forget this network" and the I was able to go ahead and reconnect to the camera and viola, I was in. Thanks for your help.
