My wife and I will be going on a Caribbean cruise in November, and I was hoping to get feedback about taking my Nikon D5200 on the cruise. I have an 18-200, 70-300, 11-16, and 35mm lenses. Should I be concerned about the size of the DSLR or take a cannon D9 instead? Which lenses would you recommend?

Thanks in advance for your advice.

Only advice I'd offer, especially after reading of all the cruise ship incidents over the last few years, make sure it's insured.

Otherwise, take it, use it, enjoy the time.

I think it depends on where photography is on the priority list for this trip. If it is pretty high, take the D5200, otherwise take the Canon G9 (is that what you have?).

For lenses, I would pick them in this order:
1. 18-200mm
2. 11-16mm (Tokina f/2.8?)
3. 35mm (Nikon f/1.8 DX?)
4. 70-300mm

Instead of the 35mm, I might get a Joby Gorillapod SLR-Zoom Flexible Mini-Tripod or the version with the BH1-01EN Ball Head. You can wrap this around the ship railing to get more stability.

I just returned from an 18 day trip with 12 day New Zealand cruise with my D5200. I used my 18-70 for ALL on board photos, and used the D5100 with longer lens on only two occasions. I would take the 18-200 and leave the other lenses at home. The camera will fit in the cabin safe if you don't wish to have it with you. This is a great camera that will help you make wonderful cruise memories. Have fun!!!

Fine answers so far, but key factors would be which islands are you going to and what kinds of subjects do you want (maybe you don't know.) That info might lead to some suggestions based on the travel experiences Hoggers have.

Myself personally... I would leave the heavy gear at home, relax and enjoy my trip and just take along a nice point 'n shoot and concentrate more on having a great time then about changing lenses.
Since you are going to the Caribbean, perhaps a waterproof camera would be nice.
There are a ton of great inexpensive options in P&S cameras now with versatile zooms that take high quality images. I would have no problem taking one on vacation as my one and only camera.

Have to agree with flyerace ...., the 18-200 will suffice for 98% of the situations you will encounter.

Since you will be on a ship most of the time the 70-300 would be good.

All of your off board views will be distance and 70 is good for on board shots as well.

I have been on many cruses and always have taken a DSLR & a P&S. Your D5200 plus the 18-200mm, good for off shore shots.Your 35mm should be good for 95% of on board shots.
Good luck..

I'd take the 5200, the 18-200 and the 35. That should cover 99% of what you need. I wouldn't bother with the WA and the tele.
