This is Daisy, she's a 10 year old FILA, (google it). Daisy won't be with us forever, but look at the second photo, this is Daisy sand blasted on black granite.

You really captured Daisy well with the sand blasting. She is a beautiful dog and I would venture to guess a wonderful companion.

These are beautiful dogs, BIG wonderful dogs. I have a friend who has had them for many years (in Mid Tennessee). They were almost the size of my extra large, overgrown Danes. I saw a video about them about a month ago that said they are the world's meanest dogs. NOT true. The ones she has had over the years are sooooo sweet. In the video, they raised them, had them in kennels and on chains, teasing, poking at them and slinging sticks at them to make them that way. It was made in Mexico. Made me sick!

Don't know how that posted twice, but just doubles "how beautiful they are".

I saw the same video, it was disgusting. They can be mean though, they are over protective of their family, but if you have a lot of visitors they mellow out. When Daisy was young, an 11 year old boy from across the street just walked into the house to play with my grandson, Daisy went up the stairs, gently took hold of his wrist and led him back to the door.

I'm surprised that you know about the breed, there aren't many breaders around.

My friend has had many over the last 30 years I have known her. She usually has 2 at a time, sometimes 3. Of course they stay in the house at night, but live on a huge horse farm. The man of the house is a horse trainer and breeder, so there are probably 80 to 100 horses on the farm most of the time and you'll find the dogs around the huge barns in the daytime. They are protective and bark when anyone drives in, but just to let them know "someone is here". They never offer to bother anyone. I'm sure they would if someone got aggressive with either my friend or hr hubby.

I also meant to mention, years ago when I first started going to that barn, my friend's Fila Brasiseiro's (sp) looked a lot like Danes with unclipped ears (they clipped most Danes back then), but the ones she has now are more like the Mastiff.
Also, love the sandblasting on the granite. Another friend of mine had that done on black granite for her son's grave stone and it's just like him.

We've had as many as 20 horses at a time, the first time Daisy saw a horse was when one walked up to my daughter, Daisy didn't like that and chased the horse off. She's used to them now.

We live on 15 acres and if anybody comes within 500 feet of the house Daisy lets us know. For the longest time, the UPS driver wouldn't get out of his truck to make a delivery, he'd just put it on the ground if the weather was nice or blow the horn. It took 5 years for him to partially get over his fear. He's getting better, he'll actually get out of the truck when I'm there.

It's fila brasileiro, Portuguese. The breed started in Brazil about 400 years ago to track down slaves and hunt jaguar's. There sense of smell is amazing.

We once had 77 horse, but as we got older and good help was harder to find, we started cutting down. Now we are OLD and are down to 5.
That's funny about your UPS man. When we had 2 Danes, people would drive into the driveway and the dogs would run out to see them. They rolled up their windows and LOCKED THER DOORS. I understand rolling up the windows, but did they seriously thing the dogs would open their car doors?????

Funny you should mention their sense of smell. Cena often sends hers out to find her husband (Their horse farm is 127 acres) and they track him strait to where he is in a matter of minutes. There are training barns, broodmare barns, foaling barns and stallion barns on the property and they always know which track is freshest. Amazing dogs.

Ten years is a good long age for a large dog.
