Question concerning Lightroom, Photoshop, and an iMAC screen resolution.

Native resolution is 2560x1440.
One step down to increase text for my older eyes is 2048x1152.
Do I lose anything with the smaller resolution while editing in LR or PS?

Do you want the technical answer, or the "easy" answer?

The technical answer is, no. Pixel depth is unchanged in your image file. The easy answer is, yes. A smaller resolution on screen means larger pixels.

Bottom line: If you plan to blow up your images beyond what your screen resolution provides, you'll be better off using the highest resolution on your monitor to check out the details.

Just to clarify, when I said "smaller resolution," I meant that you were reducing the number of pixels (depth) on your monitor.

I think you probably knew that. I just wanted to make sure I was understood.

You know you can change the size of the text don't you? You use the 2560x1440 and click on the large letter a up in theToolbar and the letters get bigger.

J must be blind, I do not see the large letter 'A' in a toolbar. You must know something Apple doesn't know because they said to change the display.

You have a picture of a printer, then an envelope, then a pencil on a piece of paper, then the forward and back arrows, then the small and large letters A, then the new tab button, then the share button, then the cloud button, then the search window if you don't have the ad blocker app. Clicking on the large A increases the font size, clicking on the small a reduces the font size.

Richard, I think Jethro is referring to changing the resolution of the web browser. Jethro, Richard is speaking of changing the monitor's resolution.

Jethro, changing the browser display works for web-based activities, but does nothing for photo post-processing in Lightroom, Photoshop, etc. Non-browser programs will still size themselves to the monitor's resolution, and Richard wants everything he uses to appear larger.

Thanks Jethro779, I do have computer glasses; but, set for 20". Worthless unless you keep your head within an inch or two of 20 inches. My eyes adjust better than that. So, I guess I will have to decrease the resolution; after all, it is a 27" monitor. Now onto the monitor profile forum for a question there! Thanks everyone!

In order to have the "A" (zoom in and out) feature on the tool bar, one needs to use the customize menu and add it to the tool bar.
