With the two year anniversary of the Weekly Photo Challenges (WPCs) just around the corner I would like to offer everyone a chance to help with its future.
The two most common complaints I hear are:
- Archived Photos do not belong in the 'Contests', and
- I am a communist who judges the entries as I wish
This post will address the second with the link addressing the first.
http://www.uglyhedgehog.com/t-220196-1.htmlBefore we begin, I want to say a few words, and then ask for your help.
When I started this journey almost two years ago it was to have fun, push everyone past their comfort zone, and hopefully have them learn something along the way. Except for the rule to add a title or description this was never about rules. They were added to make it fair, and it was never meant to be a contest although everyone seems to think they are.
I will run the challenges as long as you participate, but I want you to enjoy them. I want them to be yours. With that in mind I am asking for your help.
I have a full-time job and a full-time life so there are times where I am sure I miss things.
If you see an entry that does not meet the Challenge Theme send me a Private Message (PM) pointing out the offender and explain why. From there we can review the entry and proceed as necessary.
Untitleds are a separate matter, where I will catch them, warn them when there is time, and then Delete them if they do not comply. You do not need to PM me about these.
Thank you for your help! Steve

I appreciate it, but it would not be possible without your entries!

Thanks for all you do!
I am somewhat on the fence about archived photos vs. photos taken during the challenge week. I believe the photos I have entered have been 50% of each.
Not to give you more work but it would be nice to have 2 categories for the same topic: archived and weekly challenge. They could run concurrently or could alternate every other week.
I do have to say that it is somewhat frustrating when I go out and take a recent picture and set up all the equipment for the shot and then I see all the archived photos that pop up the first day of the contest.
Whatever you decide I'm sure it will be fine - thanks for all your hard work.

Thank you Steve for all you have put into this. I like the rules the way they stand. I enjoy assigned projects. I did take advantage of an older photo once. I did not enter this time because the photo was about a year old. You are doing a tremendous thing here that gives us all a chance to put our photos on display with feedback.
