I use LR4 now and its pretty user friendly. I have AP 3 I purchased when I bought my IMAC . I would like to learn to use AP 3 so I can see if its better than LR4 . I shoot in Raw and I just purchased a Leica X Vario which is DNG Raw. Is there any way I can learn to use AP3? Thank you. I am New to this forum.
Go to creativelive.com and look at the catalog. You may find a few video courses for Aperture. Check the free video and decide if this is what you are looking for before you purchase. You can also schedule time with the Apple store techs to show you how to use the program. If you purchased that 1 year option, you should use that benefit.
Hope this works.
Thank you. I will check this out. In your opinion is AP 3 better than LR4 for image quality ? Thanks
Welcome to UHH. There are a lot of good videos on YouTube. Lynda.com has some great in-depth tutorials. Good luck and have fun.

Lynda.com. Best possible tutorial for Aperture3. Derrick Snow does a superb job of walking you through the course. $25.00 (USD) per month, all you can eat, so to speak. There are several courses concerning photography that are very good to use for refreshing one's ability.

I noticed that AP 3 does not support the Leica X Vario which I just purchased. I hope I am wrong. Thank you
As mentioned there are tutorials out there for Aperture, but it can't do what Lightroom can do. It does a lot and it's plus is it works with all the other Mac programs. Adobe keeps improving LR, but it seems like Aperture will get some camera upgrades ever so often, but I haven't seen any other great improvements. Apple seems to put their advances in other places rather than their software. It would have been nice if they would have kept up with the changes like Adobe has in LR. I've been on a Mac for years and would love it if all I needed was Aperture and PS at times, but that hasn't been the case. So I've stuck with LR.
Thank you so much. That helps me with my decision

Apple just announced they are no longer developing Aperture, I enjoyed the program but glad I switched to Lightroom 18 months ago.

For those interested in sticking with Apple you may want to hold on before switching from Aperture. I'm waiting to see what Photos brings us. I think the concept behind what Apple has planned could be revolutionary. Read more on my Blog if you have an interest in Apple's Photos at:
