Hey all - I have been reading your site for a few days and really enjoy what everyone has to say - soooooo I thought why not join in? I was really into shooting photos back in the 35mm days and I am finding myself more and more getting back into wanting to shoot again but this digital stuff - I really am new to it. I have a few little point and shoot cameras for the family because you can't leave the craft but I have been thinking about getting back into it - what to get? I really don't want to lug around cases of lens and really want to K.I.S.S!! Thinking of a really long zoom auto cause I am just wanting to take a few but to old to get close up? Any ideas would be great! I find I will take a shot of almost anything if it is interesting and fun!!!!!!

I would also recommend you look at the Canon PowerShot SX-50 HS. It is a decent long zoom bridge camera that takes pretty good photos, and has a fairly good price on it.

Hi KB. Welcome to the fun. Lots of great folks here! You for got to add fart in your title.:):):) I am a new old fart to digital too. But it is pretty easy to get a handle on it. Just like the old days of film, without the film.:):) Post is a little hard to get a grip on. but fun to play in with your shots. I don't do the fancy stuff yet. But like to play and learn something new to try every day. Lots of great folks here that can help you with just about anything. Most important thing is, HAVE FUN with us!!!

Looking at Cannon SX50, Nikon P600 and Fuji S1 - really leaning toward the Fuji just because I like to dust and weather proof aspect as I do a lot of outside action stuff and ALWAYS get things dirty and wet!!!! Also like the zoom control on the side of the lens - But I still am lost a little on quality and if the zoom range is good all the way or just a gimmick? I also don't know if filters will work on any of these things - WOW what a lot to learn and I thought I would know more since I have been shooting film since the 60s - just goes to show you that if you don't keep up with things they will pass you by! Still looking for ease of use, a lot of zoom and quality! Still need more info-HELP!!!!

Hi Kb. Go to the top of any page here and you will see the search button. Type in the camera you want to know about and you will get a ton of info and pictures. And then you will be really confused.:):) I have had many cameras in my time. And weather has never been an issue with any of them. Just a little thinking will keep them safe!

All good ones but I have been looking at the Sony DSC HX400V - I really like the way the zoom and manual focus work. Something I have been noticing is the lag time after the shot is taken on some cameras - it seems to take awhile writing? (Not sure of the wording) - will a fast SD card take care of this or are some cameras better then others?
