A friend loaded CS 6 on my computer for me as a gift. I just recently bought a D7100 and now my raw photos won't open in Bridge or PS. I keep getting an error message. Do I need some new updates or what? And if I do, I don't have any purchase numbers or anything like that. I'm using Windows 8.1 and can still open old raw photos taken with my D5000. Any ideas would be appreciated.

I wonder if loading CS 6 replaced some windows dll which is older and does not have the D7100 sensor information. I think if you update Bridge, it should work again, and might get PS working as well.

I have attempted to update Bridge and I get an error message. I think I need a code that came with original CS6 program and I don't think I have it or know where to find it. I think the D7100 needs an upgraded version of Bridge. But I might be wrong.

If any of the software was purchased online, you might have an email with the code. The version of the software being used has to be newer, based on its release date, than the camera.

If your "gift software" is a pirated copy, Adobe is quite effective about shutting you down. And when you update, the license database is scanned and your software's authenticity is checked.

I use CS6 with a D7100 and use CS6,so
there is a raw converter update, but with CS6 you need an authorized copy of CS6, thats one of the problems with unlicensed software.

That's what it sounds like. I doubt that the friend gave a $1,000 "gift." I would never install or permit to have installed any pirated software. Aside from the legal ramifications, there's the possibility of malware.

There are lots of less expensive PS alternatives.

You need to pay Adobe $10 a month for a legal copy of Photoshop CC then you could contact them directly - but you probably won't have any issues.

I've gotten it all figured out. Thanks for all the responses. I'm not the most computer savvy person.

MODERATORS should never allow discussions based on pirated software.

Certainly not promoting it, but this shows the hazards of using pirated software.

You need to upgrade to the latest version of ACR. I believe it is 8.4.

I can't help at all with your question but just wanted to let you know I love your ride. Great looking bike.
