Surely you aren't serious. I see hundreds of posts where both Nikon and Canon users do everything they can to help one another. Most simply say it doesn't matter what you shoot with. Most of the banter is tongue in cheek.

it really doesn't matter which digital imaging device you use, just as long as you are happy using it. and of course, learn it thoroughly so you can use it to it's greatest ability. as you do this, your ability also increases.

I am serious. The Nikon user that attacked me was a newbie who told me that I was a totally inferior person because I shot with Canon & that I was extremely lucky to Evan have contact with someone as wonderful & intelligent as she. That is the least of what she wrote & she was extremely serious. Every time I tried to tack fully suggest that the brand one uses doesn't make or break someone as a photographer, she got nastier. When someone jumped in on my side, she thoroughly attacked that person. I gave up & stayed away from here for quite some time. I know that she doesn't represent the majority of Nikon users, but in my option, a Nikon user should have told her she should back off as she was being extremely offensive. No one spoke up. That tells me all I need to know. I always try to stop a bully if I can. Bab

take my word for it, there are a bunch of right fine canon users here on the forum who have overcome the limitations of their lower tier equipment.

Anyway, for forty years or so I knew I wanted a Nikon. Had to have one someday. What did I finally buy, A Canon. Never even considered Nikon! I had not even heard of UHH or Sharp Shooter at the time, but I'll just bet he slipped something in my coffee!:D

LF, you want to hear something FUNNY?
I too wanted a Nikon. When it came time to choose, I DID consider a Nikon. And with the writing clearly on the wall, I STILL wanted a Nikon. I wanted a D200 so bad, I almost got one anyway!
Alas, those sexy white lenses, and the thought of someday owning a 50mm f1.0 was just too seducing.
But, here's the FUNNY part. At that point, I too, had not yet met Sharpshooter!!
And I don't even drink coffee, so it wasn't that either!!

A 50mm f/1.0? Heck, I just saw one at a yard sale for $10. Looked like brand new. Even had the neat leather case. I didn't bother to get it. I figured, how good could a $10 lens be? Besides, I don't see it for sale at B&H or Canon.com so I guess it couldn't be too popular, huh? Come to think of it though, that leather case would have been nice!

Just wondering why I hardly ever see anything from Canon users? Too many lenses with Canon to change now. But I still love this site and have learned soooo much- I'm still a newbie.
I'm one and there are many more on the site. Learn from the techniques not the camera makers.

Maybe the Canon users have fewer questions and concerns because the Canon cameras are easier to understand and use.

i don't understand how an intelligent person like yourself could have been deceived into purchasing a yashika.

i, of course had the superior spotmatic Pentax....

Remember when i got my first black body.
It absorbed heat from the sun's rays and gave my pictures that special glow just like the pros got with their nikons,
I had a Maranda Sensorex (lasted five years).

I'm here and even though I no longer use it, I still own my Canon AE1 film camera.

good man - a little bit of trivia for you.

those cameras were in such demand, Canon ran 2 factories 24/7 and brought out 20,000 of them each day, and still couldn't keep up with the demand!
they hold the record for the most produced cameras ever!

Boy, this brings back memories! Substitute Peterbilt and Kenworth for Canon and Nikon and it's just like being on the CB or sitting in a truckstop! My mantra during much of my 25 yr trucking career was that there were only two types of trucks made. Peterbilt and all the rest. Why, my Pete ran so good that I could run from sunrise to sunset and do it all by noontime! Let me rework that a bit: My Canon is so good that I can take sunrise and sunset photos at the same time. Hmmm... I like it. I may have to get a copyright on that!:):)

That technique, I believe may be patented. Sunrise and sunset in the same image? HDR at the MAX!

All equipment being equal, I'll bet one can't tell the difference just by comparing the photographs visually!!

Discussing "which camera is better" is about as useful as "which car is better." Your 'favorite' is more than likely what you are most familiar with using. No "perfect camera" exists, as far as I know - but my Hasselblad is close enough for me.

Cars? Gimme a 'Deuce' five window with a 'Hemi' but that isn't very practical. At my age neither would be any of the convertibles or sports cars that I owned as a young man. You pick what is most likely to fill your needs at your age and place that you live.

You have an old Canon? I still have a working VT and several good Pellix bodies and just about everything since. BTW, my 'newest' Canon film camera is an 'indestructable' T90.

And, film is getting popular again! Several art schools and a college in the area (Colorado) have packed classes in film photography. I believe it is mostly the artistic crowd - but that's okay - it's good to preserve the old ways. In my view, it's not much different from restoring a 1938 Buick, an early model Hoover vacuum or a 'manual' Underwood typewriter.

I was out shooting at Buckingham Fountain over the Memorial Day weekend a few weeks ago. I was set up on a tripod with my multiple Canon digital and film cameras :-) and during the daylight hours, it was mostly cellphones people asked me to snap a shot of their family. All different brands.

I came back at dusk when the fountain is lit up with lights every twenty minutes along with accompanying music. Beyond some more cellphones all the cameras I was asked to use that time were Nikons...

does that mean those of us with nikon film cameras only come out at night - what might that signify?
