Mt Rainier in Washington state with a tophat.

These "top hats" appear from time to time and disappear just as fast. It's not always easy to catch them from a good picture taking location.

Hi Fezz. I lived in the Seattle area for 8 years, and saw many a tophat on Rainier. Most of the times, after viewing a tophat, the weather would change for the worse. The local Indian tribes used to use it as a weather forcast.

Hello 72 young, I'm 79 young a little older. You should be back in Washington. We are having NY type snowstorm here. I have about 10 inches and staying in!

We've been lucky, no snow yet. The wife and I are planning to move to Arizona later this year. Love that hot weather.

Hello 72 young, You'll love AZ. My parents wintered there from Washington state for 25 years. Now my sister does the same. Both of them to Yuma. I prefer Tucson but probably will never get there for other than visits.

love those lenticular clouds over Rainier... you're right, they are hard to catch from a good vantage point! ya did good on this one though!
