Still playing with my Sigma cameras and lenses I had forgotten for a while. SD10 body, 70-300mm zoom with macro switch for 200-300mm settings. Flowers are about 3/8" or so in size. Bright sunny day, sun at high noon. Handheld, too lazy to dig out tripod. ISO 200, 1/800, f 10, minimum focal distance @ 300mm, 1st shot right out of camera in LR5 - 2nd shot cropped and PP in LR5 only.
comments, ideas, welcome to re-edit yourself.

Just a little bit soft on the focus Jerry. Not to bad for a Sigma camera.
Thanks, it is hand held and flowers blowing in wind, used burst to try and get a good one. We are having a string of breezy days here in So Cal.
Despite using the word 'macro' is lens description, this zoom lens does not provide either of the two characteristics of a true macro lens, which are 1:1 magnification (life-size) at MFD, and flat field capture. Per
http://www.sigmaphoto.com/product/70-300mm-f4-56-apo-dg-macro (tech spec page) this lens can only achieve a maximum magnifications of 1:4 (1/4 life-size), which is the same as a typical kit lens. Nothing special here.
Duh gee! I didn't know that, I guess the marking on the lens barrel which says 1:2 must be for something else. This is the discontinued version of the lens that has a switch to go to "macro" focus after you get past 200mm, it allows the MFD to get much smaller. I had always just used it as a regular zoom, This is the first time I used that switch. It does cut the min focus in half. And yes, I am well aware that purists only regard 1:1 or greater to be "true macro".
