SX50IS Users and Zooming as You Shoot

I have tried to use this technique on my SX50, but so far have not mastered it, as the zoom lever and shutter release are on the same button/lever. Brian Peterson has examples of this in one of his books - perhaps even in one of his tutorials, but with a DSLR.

I know I can use the technique with my Canon 60D, but I carry my SX50 with me everywhere.

Sample of the technique, shown below. Attribution: "Dagens foto-190: Fable of the brown ape" captured by Peter Tandlund as found in today's Picture Correct Photographic Tips.

I'll keep trying, maybe by using self-timer controls, but hope someone else may have an easy, or easier answer.

Don't know the controls of the camera you are using. I use this technique sometimes with a DSLR.

you could consider using a shutter release cable.

I believe you could accomplish this by using the timed shutter release. I have the SX 50. Let us know if that will work.

Good idea! I'll try it. I even have such a cable.

Thanks!

Good one. Similar to using self-timer. I'll try both and let you and others know.

Thanks for the suggestion.
